Mothers' Milk Bank

I replaced the poll with a link for an idea at ideablob.com You can post your business idea and whomever gets the most votes gets $10,000 for their business. The one I supported is the Mothers' Milk Bank of New England. For those who don't know, nursing mothers that pass the medical requirements can donate their expressed breastmilk to a Human Milk Bank. They pasteurize and freeze it for up to one year. Mothers of many critically ill and premature babies can't supply the breast milk their babies need, and due to lack of adequate supplies of breast milk, these babies must be fed formula substitutes. For premature and critically ill babies, breast milk can help make the difference for the baby's health, their best nutrition, and even their survival. Those that need breast milk the most are not getting it.

It's a good thing. We currently only have 10 up & running in the U.S.A. So the more the better! Go vote today! The voting ends January 31 - only 3 more days!!!

Anna's name game

Okay, so Anna is having a hard time coming up with a name for #7. Gee, I can't imagine why that would be hard. What do you mean you've run out of ideas? =]

President Gordon B. Hinckley

SALT LAKE CITY - The president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints died on Sunday at the age of 97.

It was announced on Sunday evening that Gordon B. Hinckley, president of the LDS Church since 1995, died from issues related to his age.

Born on June 23, 1910, Hinckley ascended to the church presidency on Mar. 12, 1995. For years, Hinckley served as the 15th prophet of the LDS faith as a successor to Howard W. Hunter.

Hinckley became the oldest president in LDS Church history on Nov. 2, 2006 -- surpassing David O. McKay.

Hinckley might be best known for his aggressive attitude in building LDS temples around the world. As of an. 2008, 124 LDS temples were operating worldwide. Prior to Hinckley's presidency, there were less than 50.

alzmommers

I've known that the baby will be here very shortly and we'll be dealing with lack of sleep and such, but I just realized I'll also be nursing in a few weeks as well. Why I didn't associate the two together? I can only blame alzmommers (all Moms get it).

For Carrie

Carrie's been asking me to post a preggo picture of myself. She also didn't care for my response that there is one because I'm preggo in the family picture up top. Hila sent me a picture she took at Stacy's shower. I'll try to take a better one to replace this one. Oy! ! look bad!

preparations

I'm on the hunt for Valentine's day clothes for the kids since it's going to be such a big day for our family. I decided against sending out Christmas pictures this year and instead want to send out a picture once the baby is here. I'm debating whether to send out a family picture for St. Patrick's or Easter. Then again, with my record of procrastination it may not happen until Christmas. Oy! But, I know I have to send out birth announcements this time because I didn't with Carlise or Wesley. (Sad, I know.) I designed Carlise's ahead of time, but never took a picture to finish it. Finished writing out all of Wesley's, but never got around to the picture. So, maybe it'll just be a picture of the three children. That sounds better. =]

And our camera is screwing up! It will take pictures on the SD card, but a day later when you turn it on it says the card needs to be formatted. It's a brand new Kodak card in a 4 yr old Kodak camera. So, we're also on the hunt for a new digital camera. Maybe one that will take pictures back to back instead of having to wait 30sec - 1 min between pictures. I'll never get birth announcements out as long as the camera is screwing up!

Will we ever name this child?

Update: Ben has informed me that he hasn't really cared for Josephine. It just hasn't stuck with him like it has me. *sigh*

Carlise's vote

I was talking with Carlise about having a little sister. And just for kicks decided to ask her about the name.

Mommy: Which one do you like: Miriam or Josephine?
Carlise: Josehine

I called Ben to tell him and he suggested switching the order and asking again.

Mommy: Josephine or Miriam?
Carlise: Josehine!

Well, at least now we know she can say Josephine (for the most part) if we choose that.

sisters

The afternoon has made today a great day for me. I haven't been able to talk to 2 of my sisters for almost a week and both called me this afternoon. It was so nice!

I really hate that I can't go and see Anna. I haven't seen her since Labor Day? Memorial Day? 4th of July? ok, sometime this past summer. And I won't get to see her until after her baby is born in April. I swear it's the longest we've gone without seeing each other. She's a trooper though! She's 7 months preggo, in a wheelchair with a broken leg, 5 older children running around, and 3 of which she home schools. I just need a picture of it all =]

And JaNae is joining the Scale Back Alabama competition. It's a lose 10lbs in 10 weeks for Alabamians. If you do, you're entered into a drawing for like $250 and if your team of 4 all loses the weight then the team is entered for another drawing of money. But it's more than just losing weight. There are lessons to help you make dietary and exercise changes and official weigh-in places (mostly hospitals). I added the website to the list on the right.

Oh and in other news we added a baby name poll to our blog. It expires the day before she arrives, but please don't wait that long to vote. =]

Christmas Gifts

Ok, so I LOVE my gift from Ben. My favorite beverage next to Dr. Pepper is Hot Chocolate. He got me a Cafe Motion machine. It's so easy and quick with great clean-up. I have used it at least once everyday since Christmas. Now my stash of hot chocolate is dwindling. We went to Sams Club to get the Land o' Lakes variety set of 8 or 10 boxes, but they were sold out and it's a seasonal only item. =[ But, I can order a huge container from emergency essentials. Yay for Hot Chocolate, especially with the sudden cold weather we're having.

We tried on Carlise's coat from last year and it's way too small. So, today we're out scrounging the thrift stores for a replacement. Maybe I'll find one at a store that will trade coats with me. =]

Update: We found a cute reversible pink coat with removable hood that's fuzzy on the inside. It looks brand new and we got it for $10. The store wouldn't trade me, though. Oh well.

silver lining

I feel horrible today. I'm light-headed, dizzy, and nauseous. For awhile I couldn't stand without feeling like I was going to pass out. I'm hoping it's just pregnancy related and not a virus. So, I haven't been getting enough sleep or taking my iron and I hadn't eaten any breakfast. I'm feeling much better now after eating and I took my iron. But I'm still exhausted so my niece Leighann is coming over to watch the babies so I can sleep. And my lovely sister Karen is not only lending me her daughter, but is also bringing me a Coke.

But every cloud has a silver lining, right? My back is feeling great today!

Well it's time to sleep.

Update: I felt much better after my nap. I only had a headache to contend with and it disappeared shortly thereafter. =]

okay, so the nursery isn't really clean. But, you can see the carpet now and walk in without tripping over stuff. So, it's really more organized junk now. =]

A New Year!

Ben goes back to work tomorrow. (Boooo!!) so I finished cleaning up the nursery while he was still home. It only took 2 hours. I'm continuing to have horrible back pain. And my body apparently hasn't received the message that medicine is supposed to help with the pain. (hahaha! It laughs at me.) Unfortunately, nothing can be done to relieve the pain except to have the baby. So, only 44 more days to go. I think I'll add a ticker.

As far as the name game is going. . . Sarah Josephine is out. Among other reasons, I have come across too many people with that name. (Me and my disgust of the common.) Josephine could still work or we can save it for a different child. Ben suggested Miriam Elise. (He simply picked Miriam from the bible.) I haven't responded to that one yet. At first it sounded horrid, but I'm still feeling it out. Of course the movie I picked to watch yesterday ended up having a main character named Miriam. After hearing someone else say the name, it sounded nicer. So, the hunt continues.
